Peeps week 3

I missed week 2 on this one, but will try to do a cloud picture some other time. This week’s theme is flame. Click here to see what this project is about.

OMG! It just occurred to me that that is one crazy a$$ flame!! What kind of candle are you burning! Jeez! 😉 P.S. Love the chalice! It’s very Wiccan of you! 😉

So the candle is the Havdalah candle that we light to mark the end of the shabbat weekly holiday and make the transition back to regular time. The wine is another part of the ritual and so are the spicess in the little box that we smell. After all the blessings you douse the flame in some of the wine. It is all a pretty cool little Jewish ritual. The candle is braided and has a bunch of wicks–hence the very major flame. We got married right after shabbat ended on a New Year’s Eve 5 years ago so we did Havdalah as the first little ritual part of the wedding, right before signing the ketubah (a gorgeous wedding contract that now hangs in the living room) and the rest of the public ceremony.
